Munich Germany is a much recommended travel city for anyone who is thinking about a holiday filled with scenery, landmarks, and attractions. Munich offers several attractions for visitors. Located just north of the Bavarian Alps on the River Isar, Munich is truly a marvelous sight - both naturally and architecturally. In fact, it appears that no matter where you turn in the city, there's something truly wonderful to see.

Munich was home to the 1972 Olympic Games and the Olympic Park that was built for this event is still in use today and has some type of activity taking place there on more than 200 days out of the year. Travelers can also check out the Nymphenburg Palace which was the summer home for rulers of Bavaria. And today, Nymphenburg is open for visitors, but also continues to be a residence and chancery for the head of the house of Wittelsbach, currently Franz, Duke of Bavaria.

The museums and art galleries that the city boasts make up for the occasional lack of beauty within the streets of Munich. One of the largest and oldest science museums in the world is located on an Island in the Isar and it's very possible to go visit the Deutsches museum. If you're an art lover the largest art museum in Germany, The Alte Pinakothek art Museum is located in Munich as well. In Munich also resides the BMW museum which is a must see if you're passionate about cars. I thoroughly enjoyed the BMW museum.

Munich now has the reputation of being an art center as well as an entertainment capital for Germany. Both the old and young come here. The rich and not-so-rich interact in the streets. And if not only for the annual beer orgy of the Oktoberfest, Munich would still have tons of things to offer its visitors. Here are just a few of them.

1. As mentioned above, Oktoberfest! Need I say more? This is held annually every October and it pulls millions of people from all over the world. Originally Oktoberfest was a celebration of Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese in 1810, but this has turned into one of the world's most beloved festivals. Why? Mostly, it's because of the beer drinking which has become synonymous with the festival. Germany regulates the ingredients that are placed in the beer and because of this Germans can take pride in producing some of the best beers in the world.
